Better late than never!

Well I have finished my challenge at last - really cannot believe that we are nearly through April! I guess I now need to think about the new challenge before the next meeting....

The moment you have all been waiting for!

Need a big drum roll here for the final pieces in the challenge, this is Sylvia`s a great shape and lovely quirky cutouts.
Mine after a lot of pushing into a shape ended up like this a sort of purse.

Jo has been hard at work making this delicate purse, and below more of a bag.

Sylvia brought these this lovely bowl to show us and Jo wants to make a hat along the same lines, but is not so keen on doing the felting.

Sylvia and I tried to show them how to felt beads
and although we are not too hot as tutors look at the great work they produced!!!!!

I cheated!!

There was no way I could manipulate my figure into a vessel, so I cheated and put him on to a background using some of the left over fabric.

I stitched and painted this and then formed it into a vase.

I couldn't resist adding the strange flower.

He looks just like a bloke who has bought flowers for his missus and has been spotted by his mates.

Last of the instructions

The last lot of instructions is to fold, tuck, bend, squeeze and mold your piece into a three-dimensional vessel or vase, I found this darn difficult and I knew what was coming! If those that finish could bring the "work of art" on Thursday to Ledbury and I know Lesley cannot make it so please post it on the web when you have finished. Sylvia and myself are bringing wool tops and felted wool to the next session to make wool jewellery,if you have any please bring it and have a look at Jo`s blog as she has a whole worksheet on making flower brooches.

stage four.

Well Ann`s doll is much better than the finished item, but here goes the next step is to embellish the material using hand stitching beads wire etc.I thought her idea of political pincushions was great so I amused my self by making some,Mandelson is going to be my favourite for sticking pins in, and Colin Firth is NOT for pins but for me to drool over much to my Granddaughters disgust.

Stage three

As instructed I have cut my fabric into six pieces and reassembled them into......... a person (male?). I just know that I am digging myself into a hole with this interpretation. Something tells me that the next stage is going to involve cutting him up!

Better late than never!

Hi there I have been working away but life has been so hectic that I simply have not had time to download/post the photos. Here is my piece so far -I started with some hand dyed fabric and stamped it with discharge paste using an old lino cut block from C&G days. Next I sponged on some copper paint through a stencilled grid and finally added some pinky lines using metallic paint and an old CD. The piece is quilted using lines of embroidery stitches and some free motion quilting. I don't have access to a heat tool so could not be too adventurous though think cutting it up sounds quite adventurous enough for me!

Apologies now that I will not be able to make the next meeting as I will be away on holiday.

Third lot of instructions.

After you have quilted your fabric you need to cut it into at least 6 seperate pieces. You can be as creative as you like by cutting out circles, waves shapes, etc. After they have been cut reassemble them into a new shape one which is NOT rectangular and then stitch it back together with a backing fabric behind it.

Instructions 2

Well done to Anne and Cheryl for making it so far, I was beginning to think it was going to be just me.The next instruction is to quilt the fabric using batting or felt and a lining using various threads, if you want to you can have a top layer of organza and after quilting use a heat tool to distress it.Easy isn`t it.

Challenge

This is a five part challenge for us all to do ,no pressure but those not taking part may well have little wax images made of themselves or worse still photo images of them made into pin cushions. We have four weeks until we meet again the first part is simple so please complete it and post a photo of it by Tuesday 2nd I will then post up the instructions every five days.So you need to finish and post a photo before the next set of instructions, the idea being that you have no idea of what you are going to end up with until the final set of instructions. It should not take up too much time and if you have any queries please get in touch. First instruction..... Create a pie already done a la Blue Peter. When you have done that post a picture of it on the blog, all the best Pippa
Hi everyone this is just a test to see if you can log on Pippa
